THE DYKE VEST —  made from upcycled jeans

i'm interested in denim’s queer-coded associations, its durability, and the waistcoat’s reference to utilitarian dykeness. but what is really the important thing is the feature of pockets - what do the pockets contain? what does the dyke have in their pockets?

the project is born from my interest in repurposing garments that no longer serve a purpose - reshaping them into something new. much like how i think about queerness: malleable, evolving and shifting in form.
